Paul Cullen

Returning to the Brass Team for 2020 is veteran Buccaneer Brass Staff member Paul Cullen. 2020 will be Paul’s 8th season as a part of the Bucs education team having previously served the corps as Mellophone Music Instructor (2011 & 2018-2019) as well as Brass Caption Head (2012-2015). 

Paul has served in many roles in the marching arts including; music technician, caption head, coordinator, composer, arranger, editor, consultant and adjudicator. He has been actively involved with drum corps, marching bands, concert bands, wind ensembles and percussion ensembles, as well as having served as music designer and editor for numerous independent and scholastic winter guard programs throughout the United States. 

Having been in the activity for the past 21 years Paul's drum corps experience includes work with The Syracuse Brigadiers (2001-2009), Boston Crusaders (2008), the Reading Buccaneers (2011-2015 & 2018-2019), The Cadets (2011), Jersey Surf (2014), Fusion Core (2016) and Cadets2 (2017). In the fall Paul is actively involved with several Marching Bands in the North East currently serving as Music Arranger for Hempstead High School (NY) and Hatboro-Horsham High School (PA), Music Caption Supervisor for North Penn High School (PA) and Music Consultant for Boyertown Area High School (PA). 

Paul resides in North Wales, PA with his wife Lisa and their children Madison (RBCG’19) and Riley and is extremely excited to continue serving the wonderful humans of the RBHL!

Daniel Higgins

Daniel returns for his fourth season with The Buccaneers. He marched tuba with the corps in 13' and has been on staff since 18'. In addition to The Buccaneers, he worked with the tubas of Cadets2 in 17'. Daniel holds a music education degree from West Chester University. During his time at WCU, he performed with many various ensembles on tuba. He has worked with several marching bands in PA including Downingtown East HS and Daniel Boone HS. Daniel looks forward to returning to instructing the Tubas of Reading this season.

Aaron Sobel

Returning for his 7th year with the Buccaneers, Aaron Sobel is excited to continue working with the hornline for another season. He began his drum corps career as a member of the baritone section in 2012, 2013, and 2018, and has been the baritone tech for the 2016, 2017, and 2019 seasons. He was also a member of Spirit of Atlanta for their 2015 season where he marched euphonium. Aaron holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from West Chester University, where he served as a student visual coordinator for the Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band. Outside of drum corps, Aaron is a full-year elementary band substitute teacher for the Phoenixville Area School District and works as a music instructor for the Phoenixville Marching Phantoms. He is extremely excited to work with this team of educators for another year, and can’t wait to get to work with the 2020 edition of the Reading Buccaneers hornline.

Brand Davis

Brand is a skilled marching band technician, working with many great programs across Pennsylvania such as Red Land, West Shore, Conestoga Valley, WC Rustin, WC East and Hempfield, as well as being a student coordinator for the WCU Incomparable Golden Rams. He is currently finishing a bachelor’s degree in music education at West Chester University, where he resides. He began his drum corps career playing trumpet and mellophone with the Hawthorne Caballeros, marching there for the 2009-2012 seasons and was a soloist at Hawthorne from 2015-2018. Brand spent the 2013 and 2014 seasons with the Cadets, where he aged out playing lead trumpet, and was also a soloist in 2014. Bringing over a decade of marching experience to the table, Brand is excited to be back working with a great team of educators for 2020.
